In 2004 Sweden had the highest number of women  on Executive Boards.  However, Norway has now passed Sweden with a record number of 20,5 % of  executive board directors, up from 12,5 % in 2004. This is probably due to all the light that has been shed on the corporate diversity/gender issue in Norway.

The study has also examined to what extent companies introduce stronger CSR and ethical guidelines as a result of more women on the board of directors. So far there seems to be no significant effect of more women on the board in this respect. In Norway the study finds that even companies that are not targeted by the quota law have recruited more women on their boards after the quota law was put into effect.
