The commitment she gave to her family, friends, career, FWA, and TIAW was always 150 percent. Lenore was an inspiration to all of us at TIAW. She was a friend, mentor, and leader, intelligent and wise, speaking her mind with refined elegance. She came to us through one of TIAW’s network members, FWA, when she was serving as their President-elect, and later as their President. Though she had breast cancer at that time, she never let her illness get in the way of service.

Lenore's first contribution to TIAW was to help us put together a strategic plan under Donna Heivilin’s presidency. Lenore then served as Co-VP, Membership in 2001, becoming Treasurer in 2002-2003. Under her careful guidance and watchful review of expenditures even late in her illness, she contributed to the future of our organization.

Her passion however, was Microenterprise, promoting women entrepreneurs in developing countries. She accompanied us on the field trip to the village bank opening in Guatemala, seeing for herself the wonderful women who are helped by small loans. She called it “the best trip of my life”. Thanks to Lenore's efforts, FWA and TIAW together established and funded Village Bank Revolving Funds in Africa and Latin America. Making these tiny business loans available on a revolving basis will continue to assist thousands of strong but impoverished women and help them lead their families out of poverty.
