Thirty years ago, the world embraced a bold vision for gender equality through the UN’s Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Since then, women have broken barriers, influenced policies, and led powerful movements.
Yet, despite these strides, millions of women worldwide are still waiting for the promises to be fully realised. We have not come far enough.
Our partners at Alteris Women hosted a wonderful IWD event to celebrate Beijing+30 and #MarchForward toward a gender-equal future – and with my fellow speaker Kate Temby, we not only had wonderful discussion around how small efforts can make huge impact (and other key issues around empowering women) with the women and men in the room, we raised over USD1000 towards our first targeted project of 2025 -Cufa’s ‘Gender Potential Unlimited’ project in Papua New Guinea which will engage female school leavers from Year 10 and above to develop the job-ready skills necessary for a successful transition from school to work.
Stay tuned – it’s going to be quite a month!
